Haven

Haven’s Little Star Foundation is proud to be the headline sponsor for Pulse3K and to be supporting the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon.

Haven Holidays is part of Bourne Leisure Ltd who own Warner Leisure Hotels and Butlins Resorts and were awarded Best UK Operator 2009 by Travel Trade Gazette.

Haven takes its responsibilities to society seriously. We want to be perceived as a good neighbour within the communities where we are present and as part of this process, we have developed a policy that governs the way that we help charities.

The Little Star Foundation was formed by a group of Team Members to raise money for deserving children across the UK. Money raised is distributed by the Little Star Foundation with £25K going to the Children’s Trust, £25K to the NSPCC and the balance to local charities nominated by our own Team Members and Owners. In 2009 the Foundation raised an impressive £160K. The Little Star Foundation is a registered charity no.1124450. Our team are delighted to be involved and are training hard for this event.

Having time and fun together is at the heart of every Haven family holiday. Our collection of 35 award winning Holiday Parks provide Self-Catering Holidays throughout the UK, offering the freedom to enjoy superb facilities in a safe environment; to explore the region; and to spend quality time together.

You can raise money for The Little Star Foundation using Virgin Money Giving.

Royal Parks Foundation

As the charity for The Royal Parks and the hosts of the Half Marathon and Pulse3K races, we hope that you share our love and appreciation of these wonderful green spaces in the heart of London. We really need your support to help keep their 5,000 acres in beautiful condition and bursting with life, for everyone to enjoy, for centuries to come:

  • Their well-used sports fields which promote fitness and healthy competition amongst young people
  • The wildflower meadows and lakes which provide a safe haven for an amazing range of wildlife
  • Their ancient monuments and listed landscapes – a vital ingredient of Britain’s history
  • Their woodlands and open green spaces which help reduce pollution and city stress

Fundraising for the Look Out Education Centre

Our major campaign to raise the funds needed to create a fantastic new, eco-friendly education centre in the heart of Hyde Park continues into 2010. This will be a place where young people can learn about the natural world and the importance of looking after it. 1,000 primary school children each year have visited the old Look Out classrooms which were converted from old police dog kennels and were therefore poorly heated and cramped. Our vision for a new building, surrounded by a nature trail, which will host thousands more young people and community activities throughout the year is already one step closer now that we have successfully gained planning permission for the new centre and we hope to start construction later this year.

SportsAid

This year we are delighted to team up with SportsAid, the charity that helps young people become our heroes of tomorrow. Jeffrey Lawal-Balogun represents SportsAid by being an ambassador for the Royal Parks Foundation Pulse3K.

SportsAid is the first organisation that says “yes” to a talented young athlete. They offer help at the start of the journey, when, more often than not, Mum and Dad are the solitary sponsor. At that stage, independent recognition and financial assistance makes a huge difference. SportsAid was founded in 1976 since when it has distributed around £20 million and now gives 1,500 grants per year.

Since 1997, SportsAid has focused on giving grants to youngsters aged 12 to 18, from 50 able-bodied and 25 disability sports. These athletes compete in national squads and the grants, generally worth £500, help with costs such as travel, training, accommodation, competition fees and equipment.

Those who have benefited from SportsAid’s help at the start of their careers include an array of British medallists such as Sir Steve Redgrave, Sir Matthew Pinsent, Sir Chris Hoy, Dame Kelly Holmes, Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, Amir Khan, Victoria Pendelton, Rebecca Adlington and Denise Lewis.
