Why running can help you get fit for your sport

Being able to run can really help you excel at your sport as the following celebrity studies show:

  • In a typical match, Cristiano Ronaldo runs on average 10-11 kilometres at around 7km per hour, sprints for about 800-1200 metres, accelerates 40-60 different times, and changes direction every five seconds or so
  • Over two thirds of netball players such as Pamela Cookey run between 3-10 kilometres (depending on position) during a game
  • Rugby players like Danny Cipriani run a little bit less during their matches, but still average about 3 kilometres, so this run is perfect practice!
  • Basketball players are fast and cover a lot of ground during a game. Kobe Bryant and his team mates average around 7 kilometres per game
  • Most boxers, like Amir Khan, run between 5-8 kilometres a day as part of their boxing training
